Disneyland : Disneyland is an American theme park in Anaheim, California. It opened to the general public in 1955. The Anaheim Disneyland is the first and original one. Currently the park has been visited by more than 515 million guests. http://disneyland.disney.go.com For this shoot I used the Nikon D300 and the Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 VRII. The biggest problems I faced were the “sea of people” and the soft light. Unfortunately, I went on January 19, 2009 – Martin Luther King holiday. The huge number of guests made it very hard to take pictures – there always dozens of people in the way. This was especially true at night, in low light. I could get the background fine, but the people walking in front of the camera blurred the photo. The day was overcast and the light was very soft as a result. In the late afternoon, the sun broke out but I was too tired to chase the light vigorously, before it started getting dark. Disneyland is very expensive but the service was nothing but spectacular.

Rancho Los Alamitos : Rancho Los Alamitos (Ranch of the Little Cottonwoods) was originally known as Povuu'nga. The story of Rancho Los Alamitos reflects almost every era of the history of Southern California. Beginning around 500 A.D. when the mesa was an important ceremonial and trading center for the Tongva people, the story flows through the Spanish and Mexican periods. Today, it comprises the old ranch house, four acres of gardens, and barns. There are five agricultural buildings, including a working blacksmith's shop, live farm animals, four acres of nationally significant gardens designed by the preeminent landscape architects of the 1920s-1940s, and a sprawling adobe ranch house dating from c.1800. In this shoot, I used the Nikon D40 and Nikon AF-S 18-70 DX.

Queen Mary : Located just across the harbor from Aquarium of the Pacific, this 81,237 ton passenger liner (overall length 1,019.5 ft.) that entered service in 1936 was retired in 1967 and arrived in Long Beach, Calif. where it is permanently moored. During World War II, the Queen Mary carried a total of 765,429 military personnel, sailed a total of 569,429 miles, carried up to 15,000 troops at one time, carried wounded returning to the United States, transported Winston Churchill three times to conferences and carried 12,886 G.I. brides and children. It is now a a museum and a resort hotel. http://www.queenmary.com/

In this location, I used the Nikon D40 and the AF-S 18-70 DX

Venice Beach : Venice Beach, California (south of Los Angeles) is a desired tourist attraction. It is well known for its artists, street performers, bohemian lifestyle, and funky atmosphere. Venice has always been a Mecca for the Street Performer. The Venice boardwalk features beach side entertainment from the most recognized - Harry Perry, Venice Legend- Guitar playing street musician on roller skates - to the newest professional bum: 'The World’s Greatest Wino'. It is also a paradise for street photography. ( http://www.venicebeach.com/ )

For this shoot I used the Nikon D5000 and the Nikon AF-S DX 16-85 VR.

City San Juan Capistrano : These are the combined photos, from two different shoots, of the historic "Los Rios" district in San Juan Capistrano. For the first shoot I used the D40 and the AF-S 18-70 DX (which I no longer have.) For the second and most recent shoot, I used the D5000 and the Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f/1.4.
