Los Angeles Zoo : The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles. Located on 113 acres in Griffith Park, the Los Angeles Zoo opened in 1966. Its holdings now include 1,200 animals, and the Los Angeles Zoo is a leader in efforts to save the California Condor and return it to the wild. Currently, the Los Angeles Zoo is in the midst of continued renovations and improvements. The projects include Camp Gorilla Reserve. a golden monkey exhibit, a pachyderm forest and a rainforest. http://www.lazoo.org

Los Angeles Zoo

San Diego Zoo : The San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park, San Diego, California is one of the largest, most progressive zoos in the world. It is privately operated by the nonprofit Zoological Society of San Diego on 100 acres of parkland leased from the City of San Diego, and ownership of all animals, equipment and other assets rests with the City of San Diego. Wild Animal Park : The 1,800-acre San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park is an expansive wildlife sanctuary operated by the not-for-profit Zoological Society of San Diego.
