Queen Mary
Located just across the harbor from Aquarium of the Pacific, this 81,237 ton passenger liner (overall length 1,019.5 ft.) that entered service in 1936 was retired in 1967 and arrived in Long Beach, Calif. where it is permanently moored. During World War II, the Queen Mary carried a total of 765,429 military personnel, sailed a total of 569,429 miles, carried up to 15,000 troops at one time, carried wounded returning to the United States, transported Winston Churchill three times to conferences and carried 12,886 G.I. brides and children.
